CopiaFacts uses sequential numbers to create unique filenames for transaction files. These numbers are controlled by four text files:
| NEXTFS | Resides in the FAXFACTS\CALLBACK\TOSEND folder and contains the number which will be applied to the next FS file. |
| NEXTMCF | Resides in the FAXFACTS\MAIL folder and contains the number which will be applied to the next MCF file. |
| NEXTMSG | Resides in the Gateway 'Save Messages' folder (default C:\CopiaSMTPSaveMessages) and contains the number which will be applies to the next incoming Gateway MSG file. |
| NEXTCALLNO | Resides in the FAXFACTS\SYSTEM folder and contains the number which will be assigned to the next incoming call. To avoid a call being lost, a unique number based on date/time is used if this file cannot be read. |
| NEXTJOB | Resides in the FAXFACTS\USERJOBS folder and contains the number which will be assigned to the next job in a Job Administration environment. |
These files should not normally need to be manually edited and are maintained automatically. For NEXTMSG, manual initialization is recommended to set an offset if multiple Gateway nodes are in use, to create a system-unique number.
The file numbers wrap back to 00000001 when 99999999 is reached. For NEXTFS, Job Administration users can increase the FS number to ten digits, and can also specify caching of a pre-allocated range of numbers for NEXTFS and NEXTJOB.
If you need to make use of any of these files to create your own transactions with unique file names, it is essential that you follow the strict guidelines which we document here.
Never open any of these files in a text editor which locks the file while being edited. NOTEPAD is usually safe in this regard.
