The CopiaFacts Document Converter performs conversion and other tasks which the main COPIAFACTS server engine can usefully offload for 'external' processing. It is implemented in two principal programs:
This program is the scanner which finds conversion, printing and other tasks to be performed, and initiates or carries out the tasks. Conversion tasks are delegated to CVSINGLE which performs the conversion of each document individually.
The program can be left running on the desktop, and can be run on multiple machines for when conversions would otherwise take longer than the faxing capacity of the COPIAFACTS engine. It can also be run in Windows Service mode. The FFEXTERN graphical interfaces is used to configure processing tasks.
This program performs a single document conversion and then terminates. This architecture ensures that conversion processing cannot be disrupted by an automation operation which asks for user input (for example a document password) or by invalid submitted documents.
If you know the name of a CopiaFacts program, but cannot find its documentation, look in the Alphabetic List.
Other programs documented in this section are FFSAVE, FFMRGNT, and FFMRGMV.
eDocPrintPro
As an alternative to FFSAVE, we have also tested, and recommend, the free PDF printer driver eDocPrintPro from XKEY GmbH. This driver can be used to print any document (other than a PDF) to PDF, with or without a pop-up dialog. The resulting file can be named on a $fax_filename command in the same way as you can name a TIF file created from FFSAVE, and will be converted using the method selected in the FFEXTERN conversion options dialog.
