URI[SRO] This variable uses a special expansion syntax described at URI Encoding. During e-mail processing it can be used to give access to a URI-encoded version of text expanded from other variables.

USE_ALT_PREPROC_QUEUE

[CV >J] Assigning a non-empty value to this variable in an instance UJP causes the alternate preprocess queue to be used when job items are launched direct to PREPROC.

USE_CHANNEL_COMMANDS

[CV] Assigning a non-empty value (other than NO) to this variable causes the 'channel' versions of command names to be used when CopiaFacts writes a command file containing commands which have both 'channel' and 'line' names. The variable is set for new CopiaFacts installs in SERCONF, but the current default is to retain the old names, although a future version may change this. Both name variants remain valid when a command file is read.
USE_EXCEL[CV >J] Assigning a non-empty value to this variable causes an XLS or XLSX broadcast list to be read by automating Excel instead of by the internal Excel file handler. For use with FFBC, the variable can be specified in the template file. Note that if an XLS or XLSX file is encrypted with a password, Excel will always display a password dialog and the launch will stop until someone can enter a password or cancel the dialog. To avoid this, you can set an EXCEL_CHECK_PW variable, but this will require that non-passworded files are opened twice.
USED_TLS[CV E>] This variable will be created during an e-mail outbound operation if TLS has been used in the connection, with a value of yes.  It is cleared (if already in the FS file) before an e-mail operation starts.
USER[CV L>]  Set by the CopiaFacts Client software in FS files to identify the user for whom the FS file has been created. Note that the presence of this variable causes any mis-spelled or not-defined variable reference starting "@USER..." to be expanded incorrectly, because the @USER will be expanded on its own and leave the rest of the incorrect variable name unchanged.
USER_CCOUNT [SRO] At request time, contains the count of channels currently active for requests, which have the same DID number as the channel accessing the value of the variable. The count includes the current channel. If no DID number is active for the current channel, the value is zero. This count is equivalent to USER_COUNT plus the count of any outbound channels involved in linked calls connected over the SC-Bus, for which the call originated on the counted request lines.
USER_COUNT [SRO] At request time, contains the count of channels with user profiles currently active for requests which have the same DID number as the channel accessing the value of the variable. The count includes the current channel. If no DID number is active for the current channel, the value is zero.
USER_DNS_DOMN [CV >CE] Assign a pathname to this variable on a user profile $var_def command to specify a   user-specific NDX file or database specification to be used in addition to the global look-up to control do-not-send e-mail domain target addresses. A value of NONE may be specified in an FS file to override the value in the UJP or USR file. For FFBC and Job Administration broadcasts, consider using the new $dns_phone and $dns_email commands instead of this variable.
USER_DNS_MAIL [CV >CE] Assign a pathname to this variable on a user profile $var_def command to specify a user-specific NDX file or database specification to be used in addition to the global look-up to control do-not-send e-mail target addresses. A value of NONE may be specified in an FS file to override the value in the UJP or USR file. For FFBC and Job Administration broadcasts, consider using the new $dns_phone and $dns_email commands instead of this variable.
USERINFO_xxx[CV L>]  Set by the CopiaFacts Client software in FS files to identify the properties of the user for whom the FS file has been created. The valid values for the 'xxx' are: ADDR1, ADDR2, CITY, COMPANY, EMAIL, FAX, NAME, PHONE, STATE, ZIP.  You should avoid using any similar variable name other than these.
USETHISPRINTER[SW] Assign a printer name to this variable to cause it to be used for PRINTTHISFILE operations for the current call. Assigning an empty value reverts to the use of the system default printer.  
       If the specified printer is incorrectly named or not defined on the node, the default printer will be used: take care that you do not accidentally select a printer which puts up a dialog when printed to, such as the Microsoft XPS driver.
UTF8_LISTS[CV] Assign a non-empty value to this variable to specify that broadcast lists with any Unicode encoding, or with the Windows default encoding, are to be converted to UTF-8 as a job is launched.  This setting overrides the existing default where Unicode lists are accepted and converted to ASCII, losing any non-ASCII characters; and in due course will itself become the default setting.
