The descriptions below affect only output date formats from the support functions. However the value of the SF_DATE_FORMAT variable also affects the value of the DATE_C variable.
The date format assigned to control variable SF_DATE_FORMAT may consist of combinations of the following elements separated by punctuation or other characters. Letters may be in upper or lower case:
Day Elements:
| d | One- or two- digit day value |
| dd | Two-digit day value with leading zero if needed |
| ddd | The short day name for the current locale (e.g Sun - Sat) |
| dddd | The long day name for the current locale (e.g. Sunday - Saturday) |
Month Elements:
| m | One- or two- digit month value |
| mm | Two-digit month value with leading zero if needed |
| mmm | The short month name for the current locale (e.g. Jan - Dec) |
| mmmm | The long month name for the current locale (e.g. January - December) |
Year Elements:
| yy | Two-digit year. Values less than 10 will have a leading zero. |
| yyyy | Four-digit year value |
Complete Date:
| ddddd | The date format given by the 'short date format' for the current locale. |
| dddddd | The date format given by the 'long date format' for the current locale. |
If the date format is invalid or empty, the Windows 'short date format' will be used. If you supply an invalid format, the SF_DATE_FORMAT variable will be set to an empty value instead of the incorrect format you assigned.
 | For the purposes of Application Support DLL output, the SF_DATE_FORMAT variable is always interpreted in the current system locale. However the same variable is interpreted in for use by the DATE_C variable in the override locale set by CF_DATELOCALE. |
