CopiaFacts users have benefited since 2008 from Copia's licensing agreement with J2 Global Communications (J2) covering a suite of patents. Under the terms of this patent license Copia receives a non-exclusive, worldwide license to J2's digital patent portfolio, subject to ongoing royalty payments.
This portfolio of patents is listed above and covers various fax, email and voice software. Copia's agreement with J2 entitles Copia customers to use CopiaFacts software without infringing upon these J2 patents. Copia includes a "J2 Patent License" fee of ten percent on invoices for Copia published fax software and maintenance. The fee is calculated on the selling price of all Copia software except for our FaxFacts MailMerge and voice products. Under Copia's agreement with J2 this patent license fee is required for all new sales.
