Specify Translation of '+' in Phone Number
$country_prefix prefix
This command is used to enable the substitution of a + sign at the start of a phone number in an FS file command. For example, it allows the use of a broadcast list which contains international numbers in standard E.164 format preceded by a plus sign.
The parameter on this command is used as follows:
| prefix | the international dialing prefix to replace a leading '+'. |
The substitution is performed as the FS file is first read, before both phone-mask processing and look-up for do-not-send.
![]() | This command does not check whether the + is followed by a country code that matches that of the local country. So it is important to ensure that when dialing to your own country, you do not use an E.164 format (for example a number starting +1 in the USA or +33 in France). You must only use a number starting with + in a command such as $fax_phone or $voice_phone when calling a number outside your own country. Otherwise the substitution of the + will normally result in an invalid number. |
Note that the purpose of this command is different from the $country_prefix command in SYSTEM.UJP, which is used for analysis and reporting only.
For BladeWare FoIP calls when a telco requires that the + is dialed, use the OTF_USE_PLUS variable to restore the symbol in the dial string.
For XCAPI IP calls when a telco requires that the + is dialed, use the XC_USE_PLUS variable to restore the symbol in the dial string.
Default: None: the + sign is stripped, along with other special characters.
Examples:
$country_prefix 00 ; for dialing from Europe
$country_prefix 011 ; for dialing from USA
