CopiaFacts™ Reference Manual

Automatically Receive Incoming Fax

$auto_receive boxno

This command is primarily used in a USR profile with a filename selected to match the DNIS number of an incoming fax.  For fax-to-email operations it has been normally paired with a matching MBX file of the same basename in the FAXFACTS\MAIL folder. However it can also be used to specify a built-in 'mailbox' file.

This command can also be used instead of $auto_call to specify a satellite mail box number into which an incoming fax is to be received when this user profile is activated.

For applications such as an automated attendant which can receive both voice and fax messages, the command operates almost identically to an $auto_call command in a "fax receive" user profile, except that it can be used in a non-fax-mail user profile. You may specify both $auto_call and $auto_receive in the same user profile, and the latter will only be used if an incoming fax is detected. One of these two commands is required to be present to handle incoming fax mail to a specific mailbox. For this application, the greeting message should be at least ten seconds long to allow time for detection of the fax tone. When the incoming CNG fax tone is detected, the playing of the greeting message is terminated.  Because same initial CNG tone is used, the use of this command is incompatible with polling; auto receive will be disabled if both are specified.

The parameter on this command is used as follows:

boxno in a CopiaFacts system enabled for fax mail, the number of a satellite mail box
builtina keyword which can be used when the USR filename matches an incoming DNIS number.  It causes a built-in MBX file to be used, eliminating the need for an actual MBX file matching the USR filename.

The built-in 'virtualized' mailbox can be used in conjunction with Standard Post-Receive Scripts.  It can be treated as if it contained the following MBX commands:

$mailbox_type SATELLITE

$message_dir "@MBX_MSGDIR"

$post_receive "@MBX_PRPNAME" @MBX_PRPTYPE

$apply_gct "@MBX_APPLYGCT" @MBX_OFFSET

$mail_stop "@MBX_MAILSTOP"

The MBX_... variables on these commands must be defined in the USR file in which the $auto_receive command appears, or at a higher level (FAXFACTS.CFG, $environment or the Windows environment).  To use features of an MBX command file specified by other commands, a real MBX file is needed and the built-in MBX file cannot be used.

MBX_MSGDIR is a required variable when the builtin mailbox is used; the other MBX_ variables may be  specified as required and their absence suppresses the MBX feature. The values assigned as path names to MBX_ variables can themselves contain variables to be expanded; for example @FFPO\@DNIS.

Note that when you use the 'builtin' mailbox, received faxes can only be viewed in FFVIEWER by opening the file directly. Because there is no mailbox to locate them and the folder they are in is selected by the MBX_MSGDIR variable, they cannot be located and loaded via the mailbox menu in FFVIEWER.

Examples:

Select mailbox from 00003003.USR:

$auto_receive 3003

Select a post-receive process to handle incoming faxes:

$auto_receive BUILTIN

$var_def MBX_MSGDIR @FFPO\FAXIN

$var_def MBX_PRPNAME PRI_INIT

$var_def MBX_PRPTYPE infoboxall
