The Select Mail button shares space on the toolbar with the Infobox button . To toggle between them, click the right mouse button on the toolbar button.
The mail selection dialog processing first scans all available satellite mailbox files in the directory named as $post_office in the CopiaFacts configuration file. The mailbox you pick from the drop-down list is remembered for subsequent sessions of FFVIEWER. The directory displayed in the next edit box is that specified as the $message_dir in the selected mailbox file, but you can override this if you wish. All mail in the specified directory is shown, not just that for the specified mailbox. You can group mail for display by appropriately specifying the message directory entries in your satellite mailboxes.
When 'Include Printed' is enabled, MCF files are scanned in the PRINTED folder below the specified mail folder, as well as in the mail folder. Items found in PRINTED are shown in blue font, as is the mail folder name when this option is in effect. Items are also shown in blue if the MCF filename has been marked with a leading 'P', the formerly used method of indicating printed items. The Include Printed checkbox is not shown if the selected folder has no PRINTED subfolder.
The MCF file contains the name of its associated TIF file on the $message_file command. However if the MCF and TIF has been moved to a new folder without updating the file path on this command, the TIF in the same folder as the MCF will be used even if there is a file at the original position.
The mail selection dialog also has options for automating the repetitive processing of incoming fax mail. The large grid displays data from .MCF files representing incoming mail and allows selection of a specific mail item for display. The list shows the MCF number (which matches the fax image file number) the number of pages received, the mailbox number, the date and time of receipt and the CSID and NSF values from the sender's fax machine, if available. An entry does not appear in the list if there is no corresponding image file, for example if you have already moved it to another directory using the move/copy dialog. An asterisk is shown alongside the receipt date if any part of the corresponding fax file(s) has already been viewed.
If you start FFVIEWER with a -m command-line switch then the program will start with the Mail Selection dialog visible and will return to this dialog after pressing Escape or moving a mail document with the move/copy dialog. You can also set mail mode from the Settings dialog.
Pressing F5 in the mail selection list control refreshes the list (in case any mail has come in since the dialog was first displayed). The directory is also re-scanned each time the dialog is activated and when the directory name is changed.
Sorting and Filtering
You can sort any column in the list (Ascending, Descending, Original Seqence) by clicking the header. You can also filter by clicking the filter icon in certain columns.
You can load an entry in the list either by double-clicking it or by highlighting it, then pressing enter, Load in the right-click menu, or the Load button.
When a single fax is selected, the fax can be previewed: this is selected by the checkbox. Change the reduction factor by moving the slider.
The TIF associated with
The highlighted set of mail files (both MCF and associated image files) can be deleted by pressing the 'Delete' key or by right-clicking and selecting 'delete'. A warning or confirmation dialog is displayed unless you use 'Shift-Delete'. If the highlighted file line is not visible in (has been scrolled out of) the dialog window, then a 'beep' will sound if you press the delete key, and no files will be deleted.
