Specify types of file to be Preconverted to Fax Format

$convert_types keyword [keyword..]

This command specifies the types of files which are to be converted on-the-fly to fax format using FFEXTERN and the FXCVRT process. File types specified on this command do not require an explicit $pre_process or $fax_pre-process command, although one may be optionally specified to select a specific pre-process queue.

FFEXTERN controls 'external' pre-processing and can be run on one or more machines which can see the CALLBACK directories. FFEXTERN does not have to be run on a node running COPIAFACTS.

In each case the appropriate application must be running on the machine(s) running FFEXTERN in order for the conversions to be performed. See the description of the Document Conversion feature and the Supported Document Formats.

The parameters on this command are used as follows:

keyword one of the following keywords:
urlhttp indicates that remote files using a URL starting 'http://' are to be pre-processed.  This setting also selects files with a filename starting 'www.' and will automatically prepend 'http://' to the name.  For historical reasons, this setting will always select for conversion files with extension '.htm' or '.html' and the htm and html keywords do not need to be specified.  You also need to provide this keyword in addition to the filetype keyword if you wish to select remote files such as .PDF for conversion.
urlftp indicates that remote files using a URL starting 'ftp://' are to be pre-processed.  You also need to provide this keyword in addition to the filetype keyword if you wish to select remote files such as .PDF for conversion.
urlfile this keyword is now deprecated and should be replaced by the htm or html keyword; it indicates that local files of type '.HTM' or '.HTML' are to be pre-processed.  The prefix file:/// formerly selected for processing by this keyword is now handled automatically if found.
htm, htmleach keyword indicates that files with either 'HTM' or '.HTML' extension are to be pre-processed. It need not be specified if urlhttp is also included in the list.
tif indicates that files with exatensions '.TIF' and '.TIFF' are to be pre-processed by FFEXTERN if they are not already faxable TIFF files. This option selects both files that need to be re-rasterized (tifn) and also pre-convert job files that can be fixed on-on-the fly (tiff).  It is the same as entering both tiff and tifn keywords.
tiffindicates that files with extensions '.TIF' and '.TIFF' are to be pre-processed by FFEXTERN if they are fixable on-the-fly and if they originate as a job document in a 'pre-convert' or 'singledoc' job. Such files that are not job documents are converted to faxable format in the COPIAFACTS engine at transmission time, not in FFEXTERN. Note that this keyword does not relate to the file extension.
tifnindicates that files with extensions '.TIF' and '.TIFF' are to be pre-processed by FFEXTERN if they are non-faxable files that require re-rasterizing.
xif indicates that image files with extension '.XIF' are to be pre-processed.
doc, rtf indicates that Word files with extension '.DOC' or '.RTF' are to be pre-processed. By default, such files will be validated to ensure that they are really Word files; otherwise many hundreds of pages can sometimes be produced by Word.  Word 2007 or later must be installed.
docxindicates that Word files with extension '.DOCX' are to be pre-processed. Word 2007 or later must be installed.
xls indicates that Excel files with extension '.XLS' are to be pre-processed. Excel 2007 or later must be installed.
xlsxindicates that Excel files with extension '.DOCX' are to be pre-processed.  Excel 2007 or later must be installed.
xlsmindicates that Excel files with extension '.DOCM' are to be pre-processed. Excel 2013 or later must be installed.
pdf, ps both indicate that Portable Document Files with extension '.PDF' and Postscript files with extension '.PS' are to be pre-processed.
ppt indicates that Powerpoint files with extension '.PPT' are to be pre-processed. Powerpoint 2007 or later must be installed.
pptxindicates that Powerpoint files with extension '.DOCX' are to be pre-processed. Powerpoint 2007 or later must be installed.
gif, png indicates that graphics files with these extensions are to be pre-processed.
jpg, jpeg both indicate that graphics files with '.JPG' and '.JPEG' extensions are to be pre-processed. If such a file is identified as a color fax file and a board for which color fax formats are supported is present in the system, the file is not marked for pre-processing.

The keyword must be one of the pre-defined set shown above. It is not sufficient just to put any file extension on this command. If the FS file already has a $fax_pre-process command specifying processing by FFEXTERN/FXCVRT on a specific non-zero queue number, the auto-conversion command is not generated.

Default: Any preprocessing required must be selected explicitly using $pre_process or $fax_pre-process commands.

Example:

$convert_types URLHTTP ; pre-convert HTTP files of type HTM and HTML

$convert_types DOC XLS ; pre-convert local Word and Excel files

$convert_types URLHTTP PDF ; pre-convert local and remote HTML and PDF files
